The v1rgin/wh0re complex

Or, to put it another way, the glam0ur model / research scientist simplistic:

Quick links from the past week in mind and brain news:

Glam0ur model Daisy Thompson-Lake has a forthcoming paper on synaesthesia in the British Journal of Psychology.

I’m not going to parse this other than to say it appeared on a site serious about science.

For men: what’s the type of your v1rgin wh0re Complex? Whatever combination of answers you put in there appears to be only one outcome.

For women: the v1rgin-wh0re dichotomy test. For this there are, well, three results.

The peculiar spelling is to prevent a possible rash of ill-fitting google ads.

I’m grumpy today.

  1. That quiz makes no sense, and trying to wrap my head around those questions and their seemingly unrelated answers was a chore. I want those minutes of my life back.

  2. I think you must have done the wrong quiz.

I’ve sent the minutes to you by registered post, but this is the only time I’m going to do it. You should know better than to expect either sense or consistency in any net quiz 🙂

One of them, btw, was definitely written by a woman. Perhaps, if it was the one you had such difficulty with, she was blonde.

    Or… hold on a mo… aren’t *you* blonde??

  3. (shudder) gave up at the second question. I couldn’t assume *any* of those personas, even to complete a net quiz 🙂

Sorry you’re grumpy. May everything get better.

  4. Aren’t you blonde too? I think we could be on to something here. Scientific evidence that blonde people can’t do net quizzes. But damn! I’m going to need to have a second career as a glam0ur model before I can get my research taken seriously.
